Get involved...volunteer your time... it's your school!


Here are some volunteer opportunities that are typically available every year.  If you are interested in any of these activities, please notify one of the PTO Officers.
 

 Art Print Presenter

Present famous works of art in the classroom. No art training necessary. (2 hrs./month)

Art Print Committee

Assist in planning and implementing an Art Print Program.

Art Teacher’s Asst.

Assist in the Art classroom. No experience needed. (Special need K-1)

Assemblies Committee

Review and choose presenters, set up dates, send out flyers and write thank you notes.

Assist Teacher from home

Sort, cut materials for class bulletin boards/projects etc.

Book Buddies Work one-on-one with students on reading skills 2 times a week.  Total time - 45 minutes per week.  Training provided.

Book Fair

Week long book fair.  Assist with set up, orders, restocking and/or take down.

Book Swap

Students swap up to 10 used books. Assist with book collection, swap and/or clean up.

Bulletin Board Committee

Update the PTO bulletin board at least 5 times/year, decorate and display info.

Cafeteria Volunteer Adults willing to come consistently for 1 hr shifts from 11:45-12:45 to assist Kindergarteners going thru lunch line.  See Cathy Benish.

Child Care Coordinator

Coordinate childcare for PTO meetings and other parent functions.

Computer Help

Assist students/teacher during computer class.

Family Events Committee

Organize various “family” events throughout the year.

Field Day Committee

Work with PE Teachers to organize events and volunteers.

Fundraising Committee

Investigate various fundraising options and make recommendations to the PTO.

Gift Wrap Fundraiser

OUR BIGGEST FUND RAISER- volunteers needed to send out ordering info, collect/process orders and distribute wrapping paper in October.

Gifted and Talented Asst.

Help teacher on a regular basis with copying, special projects, classwork, etc.

Gifted Advisory Committee

Serve as an advocate for Gifted Ed. Attend 5 meetings yearly. (2 year commitment)

Grants Committee

With staff, write grants to get $ for assemblies, equipment and/or materials.

Home Room Parent

Communicate classroom needs to other parents, recruit classroom volunteers, organize parties and special events.

Hospitality

Volunteer to supply food/drinks for staff appreciation and special days.

Hospitality Committee

Organize staff appreciation lunches and treats throughout the year.

Language Program

Investigate and implement an after-school foreign language enrichment program.

Library Help

Help librarian on a regular basis shelving books, filing, etc.

Lunchroom Help

Assist and monitor children in the lunchroom.

Nominations

Recruit volunteers to fill vacant PTO positions.

Music Teacher’s Asst.

Assist Music teacher by making copies and/or setup and clean up at performances.

Music Teacher’s Asst. (Piano)

Volunteer to play piano for chorus and various events throughout the year.

Office Help

Help with filing, copying, distributing mail, answering phones etc.

Parent Council Rep. (1x/mo.)

Attend monthly meetings

Party/ Project Supplier

Send in drinks, refreshments, paper goods or materials as needed by classroom teacher.

PE Teacher Assistant

Assist with various clerical chores and special events.

PTO Patron Committee

Solicit Patron contributions from non-active PTO members.

Publish Student Writing

Help from home or in the classroom to type and assemble books created by the children.

Resource Teacher’s Asst.

Commitment to help Reading , Speech, and/or Special Ed. teachers on a regular basis.

School Board Parent Rep.

Attend monthly School Board meetings and report to PTO

School Enhancements Committee

Help improve landscaping, playground, improve student gardens etc.

School Store

Help student’s order, sell and collect money from in-school store. Open 2 mornings/week.

School Store Chairperson

Work with current Chairperson to prepare for next year.

Special Activity - Classroom

Assist in the classroom when needed for special activities and/or projects.

Special Activity - School Wide

Help with school activities such as school pictures, Science Fair and other activities.

Special Ed Teacher’s Asst.

Help teacher on a regular basis by assisting in class, copying, special projects, etc

Spelling Bee 

For 3rd-5th graders. Volunteers needed to set up, judge, pronounce or bring refreshments.

Weekly Classroom Volunteer

A weekly, biweekly, or monthly commitment to assist in classroom.

Yearbook

Help teachers & students create, publish and distribute a yearbook. 

We are also looking for a few teens/young adults who would be willing to do community service work caring for children during our PTO meetings and other parent activities. If you know someone who might be interested, please let us know.
